Who we are
42real.uk is run by Workmate OS Systems Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16659431) ("42REAL", "we", "us"). We are the controller of the personal data described in this notice, which means we decide how and why it is used.
For any question about your data, email privacy@42real.uk.
What we collect
- When you join the list: your email address and, if you choose one, your favourite member ("your spark"). With each signup, our host Netlify also records your IP address, your browser type and the page you signed up from.
- When you email us: your email address, your name if you give it, and what you write.
- When you visit the site: our host processes your IP address and basic request details so it can deliver the pages and keep the site secure.
We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and we do not build profiles of visitors.
Why we use it
- To send you news about 42REAL when you have asked for it. Our lawful basis is your consent.
- To use your spark to shape what we send you. Our lawful basis is your consent.
- To reply to your messages. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering people who contact us.
- To run and protect the website, including filtering out spam signups. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the site working and secure.
Who we share it with
We never sell your personal data or share it for advertising. These providers process it on our behalf, under contracts that require them to keep it safe:
- Netlify, Inc. hosts the website and stores signup form entries.
- Akismet, run by Automattic, checks form entries for spam on Netlify's behalf.
- Google provides our email (Google Workspace) for messages to and from @42real.uk addresses.
If we start using a mailing service to send news, we will name it here before we move your details to it. We may also disclose personal data where the law requires us to.
International transfers
Netlify, Automattic and Google may process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, the transfer is protected by safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
How long we keep it
- Signup details: until you unsubscribe. We delete them within 30 days after that.
- Emails: up to two years after the conversation ends, unless we need them longer for a legal reason.
- Hosting logs: kept by Netlify for a short period under its own retention policy.
Unsubscribing
Every news email we send includes a way to unsubscribe. You can also email privacy@42real.uk with the word "unsubscribe" at any time.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- correct data that is wrong or incomplete;
- delete your data;
- restrict or stop using your data, or object to how we use it;
- send your data to you or another organisation in a common format.
Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. This does not affect anything we did with your data before you withdrew it.
To use any of these rights, email privacy@42real.uk. We will reply within one month. We may ask you to confirm your identity first.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please tell us so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Children
You need to be 13 or over to join the list. If you are under 13, please do not sign up. If we learn that we hold the details of someone under 13, we will delete them.
Cookies and browser storage
This site does not use cookies. It stores one small item in your browser's session storage, called 42r-intro, so the opening intro plays only once per visit. It holds no personal data and is deleted when you close the tab.
If you follow a link to YouTube or another platform, that platform's own cookie and privacy policies apply.
